THESIS:
The main idea in this website is that animal testing is cruel and inhumane.
Rhetorical Appeals and Article Evidence
Ethos: This website uses names and quotes from credible doctors who do studies their whole life devoted to animal testing. This would be E which stands for example. An example of this in the text is when neurologist Aysha Akhtar says that "over 100 stroke drugs that were effective when tested on animals have failed in humans."
Logos: This website uses numbers and percentages to make their point clearer and to explain what happens to all of the animals. This is using S for statistics. An example of this in the text is when is says that "The USDA reported in 2010 that 97,123 animals suffered pain during experiments while being given no anesthesia for relief, including 1,395 primates, 5,996 rabbits, 33,652 guinea pigs, and 48,015 hamsters."
Pathos: This website shows pictures of animals being tested on. This makes you feel bad about what these people are doing for the animals. This is using E for examples. An example of pathos is when the author says that "The AWA covered 1,134,693 animals used for testing in fiscal year 2010, which leaves around 25 million other animals that are not covered." This just shows how many animals are actually hurt of killed in labs each year.
Why this could be persuassive: All of these things could be persuassive because when you hear something that has come from someone who is reputable, you can trust it more. Also when you hear something that has to do with numbers, it gives you acurate and correct facts. And finally, if you see something that messes with your emotions, you can beleive anything.
