ARTICLE SUMMARY:
The ProCon organization wants animal testing to be a continued practice, but they are killing innocent animals, so they are writing this article on how it saves many of human lives so then people will realize that animal testing is a good practice.
THESIS:
The main idea of this article is that animal testing is something we need to have and it has saved millions of human lives.
Rhetorical Appeals and Article Evidence
Ethos: This website uses the names of well trusted non profit organizations and famous doctos who have spent their life studying these things their whole life. Here is an example, when the author lists off all of these organizations. This is using P for personal experience. "The American Cancer Society,American Physiological Society, National Association for Biomedical Research, American Heart Association, and the Society of Toxicology all advocate the use of animals in scientific research."
Logos: This website uses numbers and percentages to prove their point on why animal testing is a good thing. Thisis using S for statistics. This is an example, when the author says "chimpanzees share 99% of their DNA with humans, and mice are 98% genetically similar to humans." This uses numbers to put it into perspective.
Pathos: This website talks about how animal testing has saved many lives which makes you feel very passionate about this topic. This is using E for example. "The polio vaccine, tested on animals, reduced the global occurrence of the disease from 350,000 cases in 1988 to 223 cases in 2012." This makes you feel passionate towards animal testong because you see that it is saving human lives.
Why this can be persuassive: This can be persuassive because non profit organizations hold a lot of information and are very reputable. Also when you use numbers it is persuasive because it puts things into perspective. Lastly this can be persuassive because seeing that this saves human lives will make people feel passionate about it.
